The basics of a smart home setup

A smart home setup consists of multiple wireless speakers in different rooms or positions throughout your home that can play music, audio or likewise. You also have the choice to play music synchronously, each speaker playing the same thing, or set the system up so that each speaker is playing their own thing. The best is, that you can control all the speakers using one app. In order for this whole process to work, smart speakers or multiroom speakers have to connect to each other and to the internet. Any Teufel speaker that supports wireless can be connected to your multiroom system network. Using the app, you can group wireless speakers with other multiroom speakers. The music is either streamed to your smart speakers from the Internet via the wireless router or transferred from local storage such as network drives or via USB storage.

Together with the app, smartphones or tablets can serve as a multifunctional remote control, offering you maximum convenience when streaming. Some wireless speakers support integrated voice control and can be combined with Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Amazon Music. All our HOLIST smart speakers, thanks to their built-in features, can also be set up and controlled as a multi-room system via Amazon Alexa. This enables synchronous playback on two or more HOLIST devices. Using Spotify Connect, you can additionally control your smart home devices. Of course, all of our smart speakers also have Bluetooth.

A bigger sound thanks to Wi-Fi

With this speaker system you can make the sound big, and yourself portable. Since most current routers allow you to transfer the large amounts of data required for a smart home, you can also play back high-resolution audio formats such as FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec), DSD (Direct Stream Digital) and others. Thanks to the long range of Wi-Fi, you can be portable around the home with your mobile, tablet or Apple device and control the playback of music or other audio content on your smart home devices. So if you've got bad Wi-Fi, you might want to reconsider this sort of setup.

Smart via Teufel app - your sound control centre

With the Teufel Raumfeld app, devices such as your smartphone, tablet or Apple devices become your hub for your speakers throughout the house. You can control mini speakers in the children's room as well as the home cinema system in the living area, the radio in the kitchen, the Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom or the Hi-Fi system in the music room. With the hub set up, you can organise, manage and navigate comfortably through your digital music collection. The functions go far beyond switching the speakers on and off. You can also adjust the sound of individual speakers using the equalizer, assign channels to stereo systems, or adjust the volume. Connect selected streaming services to your smart speaker and play the latest playlists to your heart's content. The Teufel Raumfeld app is available free of charge for iOS and Android.

The Teufel Raumfeld app is not only the control centre but also the interface between your smart home system and digital audio sources. You can use it to play locally stored music on the smart speakers as well as songs from a whole range of popular streaming services such as Spotify, Napster, SoundCloud or TIDAL. Spotify Connect serves as an additional hub, by the way. Selected multi-room speakers are also equipped with Chromecast and can thus be integrated with compatible devices via Google Home.
